The IOTA System comprises of a high performance, fully stabilised direct drive servo positioning and tracking Naval platform, and fully integrated control system.
It has been specifically developed for accurate control of optical sensor payloads in demanding applications such as, weapon fire control, long range surveillance, dynamic motion stabilisation and micro-radian absolute positioning and pointing.
The IOTA EOD offers the customer outstanding versatility and reliability due to its efficient compact T-shaped design, the use of brushless servomotors and customisable payload configuration. Its sensors include:
- A high performance thermal camera with continuous zoom lens and wiper mechanism
- A discrete stand-alone Laser Rangefinder for detection of fast moving targets
- A high quality daylight TV camera and wiper mechanism
- A Gyro that provides stabilisation of better than ±0.5mRad in conditions up to sea state 3
Since its introduction in 2005 with the UK Royal Navy, over 60 Army and Navy variants have been sold and are in active service throughout the World gaining an outstanding reputation for reliability and maintainability.
The system's control interface is provided by Chess’ Operator Control Console (OCC), which is a standalone compact pedestal. It has a fully ruggedised user interface and can house a full colour 17” or 19” monitor depending on requirement. It is also capable of housing any customised data recording and PC hardware that is required.
