Celebrating 20 Years at Chess Dynamics

Alan joined Chess in 2005 as a Mechanical Technician, when the company was still in its early years with just 18 employees. From day one, he played a key role in building and supporting our bespoke radar turntables, helping to lay the foundations of the business we know today.

“In the early days, with fewer people and resources, we were involved in pretty much every part of a project,” Alan recalls. “From production control and mechanical and electrical builds to spares, repairs, and field service - it was a hands-on experience that taught me so much.”

Alan’s dedication and expertise saw him progress quickly, becoming a Team Leader in 2009, then moving into Production Engineering in 2018, and most recently being promoted to Senior Production Engineer in 2022.

Across his two decades with Chess, Alan has worked on some of our most technically challenging projects and travelled extensively across Europe, the US, and the Far East, often in demanding and dynamic environments.

When asked about his highlights, Alan reflects:

“It’s been a privilege to work on such interesting and technically complex projects with an amazing team that feels like an extended family.”

He also extends a special thanks to Andrew Rackley, who he describes as “the greatest support as a mentor and manager” throughout his 20-year journey.
