Martin Read joined Chess Dynamics in 2019 and is the Senior Naval Sales Manager, leading sales activity across the Maritime sector.
As a former Royal Navy officer, Martin brings more than 30 years’ experience in international sales and business development within the maritime defence and airport equipment industries. His expertise covers navigation, surveillance and other mission-critical systems, developed through senior roles at leading organisations including Kelvin Hughes (Hensoldt), Flight Refuelling (Cobham), Ultra and Raytheon.
Martin has travelled extensively throughout his career, gaining a strong appreciation for different cultures and developing a lasting interest in languages. His experience and operational understanding enable him to build trusted customer relationships and support long-term business growth. Outside of work, Martin enjoys off-roading in his modified Jeep, exploring new places, and spending time on the water.

Jim Parrott joined Chess Dynamics in 2024 as Naval Sales Manager, responsible for sales and business development across the Maritime sector.
Jim retired from the Royal Navy in 2024 after a distinguished 33-year career as a Warfare Officer, specialising in Integrated Air and Missile Defence across Destroyers and Aircraft Carriers. He was part of the initial build crew for HMS Prince of Wales and concluded his naval career as In-Service Capability Manager for Type 45 Destroyers at Navy Command Headquarters.
With over three decades of operational experience, Jim has a deep understanding of naval capability development and operator challenges. He uses this insight to support customer engagement and inform product development at Chess Dynamics. Jim has worked extensively with the UK MOD, European defence markets and global partners through Key Leader Engagement. Based on the Isle of Wight, he enjoys home renovation projects in his spare time.
