“Follow what you enjoy most and just see where it leads. Don’t put too much pressure on choosing one specific path—along the way, you might discover something you enjoy even more but never considered before.”
In honour of International Women in Engineering Day 2025, we're delighted to introduce Helen, who recently joined Chess Dynamics as our new Production Manager.
Helen brings with her an impressive 18 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with over 17 of those spent at Custom Pharma Services in Hove. Starting as a lab technician in quality control, she moved into quality assurance, earned her lead auditor qualification, and progressed to Laboratory Operations Manager. It was in this role that Helen discovered her real passion—operations—which led her to move into manufacturing.
For the past eight years, she worked as a Manufacturing Manager, collaborating closely with engineering teams to keep a production facility running efficiently. Ready for a new challenge, Helen was drawn to Chess Dynamics by the opportunity to work on meaningful, high-quality products—and we’re very pleased to welcome her to the team!
Helen is particularly passionate about female representation in engineering, sharing, “Female representation is important as it can give balance to teams with different experiences, perspectives, and strengths.”
Now settling into her new role, Helen is looking forward to getting to know the team, learning all about our innovative products, and getting to grips with the world of abbreviations and acronyms!
On a personal note, Helen is mum to Wilfred (nearly 2) and step-mum to Haydn (24) and Noah (18). She and her family are big fans of board games—with a collection of nearly 50 titles—and enjoy tackling escape rooms (though it’s a bit trickier with a toddler in tow!).
Please join us in giving Helen a warm welcome to Chess Dynamics, and in celebrating the achievements and contributions of women in engineering today and every day.
