We sat down with one of our Mechanical Design Engineers, Matt Tripp to discuss his time at Chess, how it all started and the importance of early careers.
Matt started working at Chess as a placement student whilst studying for his Masters in Mechanical Engineering at Loughborough University.
After applying and successfully receiving a graduate role in 2017, Matt has now been with Chess for just over five years. Throughout this time, he has been tasked with a great deal of responsibility, including multiple site and customer visits in the UK and abroad. One of his key areas of interests is working with customers to produce bespoke designs, such as early iterations of Chess' vehicle integration pods. These projects give an opportunity to be significantly involved with the full life cycle of a project, including demonstrations of the concept, and supporting it at defence trials.
In addition to his hard work in our engineering department, Matt also runs the company football team, manages a small team of students and graduates, and provides copious amounts of support to others.
Matt said, "Over the past five years working at Chess, I have seen the vast opportunities available to anyone pursuing an engineering career. I have been fortunate enough to grow with the company both professionally and personally, and I have been able to adapt and work in a fast-paced industry that expects high quality products. The nature of the bespoke systems Chess produce provides an opportunity to innovate and design creative solutions. I enjoy working with the teams across the whole business who foster an attitude of care. It is also exciting to see the business grow as it pursues new markets."
Thank you Matt for your continued hard work, contribution and support.
