Last week, Fred Thomas MP, Member of Parliament for Plymouth Moor View and co-chair of the All‑Party Parliamentary Group on Defence Technology, visited the Chess Dynamics Naval Systems office at Plymouth Science Park. The visit underscores the MP’s commitment to advancing UK defence manufacturing and supporting defence SMEs in his constituency.
Mr Thomas toured Chess Dynamics’ cutting‑edge naval surveillance, targeting, and fire control systems development facility, meeting with engineers and senior staff. The delegation discussed ongoing projects.
Chess Dynamics Managing Director, David Tuddenham commented: “We were delighted to welcome Fred Thomas MP. His visit reinforces the importance of innovation at our Plymouth facilities, especially as we continue delivering SeaEagle systems for the Royal Navy and many international customers.”
The MP’s visit coincides with ongoing advocacy in Parliament to secure funding for defence tech investment and local industries.
Following the tour, Fred Thomas explored collaboration opportunities across apprenticeships, R&D funding, and export support. The session aimed to cement Plymouth’s status as a key hub for naval systems R&D and reinforce the strategic partnership between government and industry.
