This versatile 2 axis positioner is suitable for fixed and semi permanent surveillance applications. This positioner can be fitted with an optional 3rd axis in azimuth (pan) to position a radar if required.

The Python positioner shares many of its performance features with the Cobra positioner but is specifically designed for centrally mounted integrated sensor modules where “L” or cradle (yoke) mounting is desired. The Python can be configured for a range of sensor module widths up to 500mm with the optional layside support arm.
The Viper is a heavy-duty servo driven geared director/positioner, ideally suited for vehicle mounting with high performance electro-optical sensors. It can be gyro-stabilised and is particularly suitable for highly accurate long-range surveillance and targeting. Its robust design has proven itself with heavy payloads (12kg each side) on tracked vehicles in harsh environmental conditions.
Zeta Director is an ultra-heavy-duty servo driven, geared fine tracking positioner for fixed and semi-fixed long-range surveillance applications. Ideally suited for mast mounted coastal and border surveillance where high reliability is paramount. The Zeta can support payloads of up to 100kg dynamically and much higher in fixed ground installations. The Zeta is also suitable for the oil and gas industry with many of these systems being gyro-stabilised for rig security and protection.
Iota (Naval) & Guardian (Land)
The Iota Director is a high performance stabilised direct drive servo positioner. It is specifically designed for dynamic motion applications. This director, with its low friction requires a balanced payload to achieve outstanding stabilisation performance in really demanding environments, especially at sea in rough weather. The key to this products success is its unique “T” shape compact design providing unrivalled flexibility on payload configurations as opposed to traditional constrictive yoke style systems.
The Owl EO system is based on the popular Cobra positioner with the addition of an integrated optical sensor pod containing a TV colour camera and high performance uncooled thermal imager with adjustable focus. Its robust design is especially suited for tracked and wheeled vehicle mounting, for example a commander’s remote sight. The Owl has integral cabling and has been fully tested to Def Std 59-441 land class A, EMC requirements along with the other usual military environmental conditions.
The Scorpion stabilised 3 axis platform is just an example of what is possible when engaging Chess as your engineering positioner provider.
